Home cooking worked well for Nebraska as the Huskers rode the energy of Pinnacle Bank to an upset of No. 20 Purdue on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to an all-around impressive effort by Tai Webster, the Huskers got 37 of their 39 bench points from the duo of Jack McVeigh and Jeriah Horne, who combined to hit six of NU’s nine 3-pointers and chip in 10 rebounds as part of a gritty team effort on the defensive end. After 39 minutes of back-and-forth action, Michael Jacobson tipped in a missed shot by McVeigh inside the final minute as Nebraska held on to secure the upset and break a five-game losing streak.
