When Rutgers returned an interception for a touchdown in the second half, the tension at Memorial Stadium kicked up a notch with the Scarlet Knights ahead 17-14. Nebraska went 3-and-out on its next possesion, and things kept going against Nebraska when Rutgers blasted a punt down to the 3-yard-line put NU deep in its own territory.
But then Huskers took the ball 97 yards on 17 plays to eat up 8:10 of the third quarter. Drew Brown added a field goal to make it a touchdown game, then another to make it a two-score margin. Nebraska’s ground game did the rest, and eased the way for NU to see off Rutgers and kick off Big Ten play with a win.
