Saturday will mark Foecke’s second NCAA title match in her three years at Nebraska. The last time she played at this level, Foecke was named the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player while notching 19 kills on .385 hitting against Texas.
Against Penn State in the semifinals, Foecke led both teams with 19 kills on .278 kitting while also adding 19 digs and three total blocks. Early in the year against Florida, Foecke led the team with 18 kills on .203 hitting but also contributed six errors to NU’s 30 on the night.
“It’s not like we could figure out (Mikaela) Foecke the first time, and they are — there are some really good libero’s here, holy cow,” Florida coach Mary Wise said about the early-season match. “And I just think that their libero, their pin scoring, they just — they’re a very good serving team. I just know that it’s going to be a different match than it was the first time.”
